As a newborn photographer in Wooster, Ohio, I can’t stress enough how great of an investment it is to hire a professional photographer to take photos of your new baby. As a mom myself, I can promise these fleeting moments pass by in the blink of an eye, and you will definitely want to remember all of your baby’s small details. Whether you decide on a home session or a studio session, you will be grateful you captured these precious moments. Here’s why:
You’ll want to document these early days.
The newborn stage is over before you know it, so you’ll want to capture all of your baby’s tiny details, from curled-up poses of their scrunchy butt to their teeny tiny toes. My favorite newborn pictures to take are ones that show the emotional connection between a new mom and her baby. It’s also precious to get the whole family involved and show the sweet bond between siblings in these early moments.

It motivates you to get dressed and ready for the day.
New parents know that it’s easy to wear the same sweatpants for three days in a row and rock the same messy bun during the first weeks of having a newborn. If you’re including family photos as part of your newborn session, it will make you look a little more put together, which has more of an effect on your mood than you realize! Don’t stress too much about having perfect hair and perfect makeup; you’ll end up with beautiful images showcasing the love you and your family have for your new addition. If getting ready and getting out of the house is causing you anxiety, you can book an in-home newborn session to minimize the stress!

You don’t want to rely on your phone camera.
In my many years of experience as a professional newborn photographer, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say that with their first baby, they thought they could take pictures on their own with their phones, only to realize months later the pictures they thought were “literally the cutest thing ever” were filled with weird poses, unflattering angles, and overall just bad pictures that didn’t capture their newborn the way they wanted.
It’s my job to capture perfectly posed newborn photos of your baby, so you’ll be able to look back on their little scrunchy butt, their little milk drunk smile, and all of their tiny features. You also don’t want to depend on your phone to capture images of you with your baby. If your husband is anything like mine, he somehow manages to take the least flattering pictures of me every. single. time, so it’s best to trust a professional!

The newborn phase is over before you know it, so you’ll definitely want to book a newborn photoshoot to remember these times. You can schedule one in my studio or in your own space, and you’ll have beautiful photos of your newborn and your family to grace the walls of your home.
To book a newborn photo session, contact me and let me know your due date to set a tentative time on the calendar, and then when your baby is born, we’ll confirm your date! The best time to take newborn photos is between days 5-14. If you are also thinking about a maternity session, I offer a package deal, so you can document your time pregnant with your little one as well! If you book a newborn session with me, I can promise you a stress-free experience as I document this precious time for your family.
