I say it every year, but I really can’t believe my little baby has turned into a SIX year old! Brynlee reluctantly went to the studio with me to get some birthday pictures, but if you can’t tell, she DID have fun! Her little brother was behind the scenes making all the funny faces (and saying poop) to get her to laugh. I love being able to capture milestone photos in Wooster, Ohio with my sweet and sassy little girl!
Tips for Older Kids
Older kids might be a bit more camera shy compared to toddlers, but I have a few tips that will help them loosen up!
- Let them be involved in choosing outfits – I know it can be silly when your big kid wants to wear leopard pants with a tie-dye shirt, but if they feel comfortable starting off in an outfit they picked, then let’s do it! Negotiate that after a few photos in their favorite outfit, they will switch into something that Mom helped put together.
- Bring along a favorite hobby or toy – Does your kid love legos? Let them bring their favorite lego creation along! Once I get them chatting about their favorite activities, they’ll be more comfortable.
- Bribing – This is typically a big no for toddlers, but once your child is old enough to understand behavior and rewards, bribes work! Maybe ice cream, a new toy, or a trip to the park. Whatever they love!
