Wooster Family Newborn Session

Newborn family sessions are (in my opinion) the best way to document the excitement of adding a new member to the family. This beautiful Wooster family chose me to not only document their maternity session, but also their newborn session to welcome their baby boy!

Why Newborn Photos Are Important

Sweet baby Chance has two older sisters that I’m sure will always be looking out for him. His mom admitted that she regrets not having any newborn pictures done with her daughters. The delicate newborn details (like wrinkly fingers and fuzzy skin) fade so quickly and can’t win over a permanent spot in our memory through the sleepless nights. Preserve those details indefinitely with a newborn session.

How To Get Young Siblings To Cooperate

This family has two daughters, ages seven and four. I love having older siblings interacting with the newborn by holding and talking to them. Siblings love feeling helpful, so I often have them help mom or I with small tasks involving baby (like fetching the binky or a clean diaper) to keep them focused. If young siblings aren’t ready to stay still long enough to hold the newborn, I let them have a break with Mom or Dad for cuddles, a snack, or a book. I’m raising crazy kids of my own, so never stress about your child’s behavior because your images will turn out beautifully despite any meltdowns! 🙂

What’s Important To Document

It is so important to me to document moments of bonding between Mom and baby. It’s so easy to forget how small they felt in our arms and how they fit perfectly onto our chest. I breastfed both of my children for a year, and yet I have only two phone-quality images of that bond with my babies. Those intimate moments are such a treasure.
Also, let’s not forget Dad! He is so proud of his new baby and the woman that made it possible – you! I love getting dad’s involved in the session to document his special bond with baby as well.
